SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM
The Science Olympiad team of _____________ High School travels to compete at events in Wisconsin or other states. People are always observing each of you. Your actions while wearing your Team or School shirt or competing in events become part of the Team's and School's reputation. To keep the reputation of the Team, School, and State honorable and distinct, a Code of Ethics has been established for the members to follow.
The Science Olympiad Code of Ethics
We will conduct ourselves at all times in order to be a credit to our Team, our School, our community, and our State by:
1. Dressing neatly and appropriately for the occasion.
2. Showing respect for the rights of others and being courteous at all times.
3. Being honest and not taking unfair advantage of others.
4. Respecting the property of others.
5. Refraining from loud, boisterous talk, swearing and other unbecoming conduct.
6. Demonstrating sportsmanship in the events and meetings, and being modest in winning and gracious in defeat.
Additionally:
7. Students are to be in the viewing distance of a Team Coach at all times. If this is not possible, students are to ask to leave and take another coach or adult with them.
8. The Team Coach must know where every Team member is at all times.
9. Students must stay in their hotel rooms after designated lock up time.
10. After designated lights out time, the students are to sleep; no talking!
11. Everyone must be ready to travel with proper gear at the set times.
Students and adults are expected to abide by this Code of Ethics and the behaviors outlined in the Student and School Handbook. All adults share responsibility for supervising the behavior of students and for seeing that they meet the standards of conduct.
